First Walkies with Pawesome: What to Expect
When you hand over your dog’s lead to someone new for the first time, it can feel like a big moment. At Pawesome Walkies, we understand that trusting a dog walker with your furry best friend is no small decision. That’s why we’ve designed a first walk experience that puts safety, familiarity, and fun at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re joining us for dog walking in The Wirral, Milton Keynes or our other service areas, here’s what you and your pup can expect.
Step One: A Tail-Wagging Introduction
Before any paws hit the path, we arrange a complimentary meet-and-greet. This is our chance to get to know you and your dog in a relaxed setting. We chat through your dog’s quirks, preferences, recall ability, and favourite things (tennis balls? belly rubs? treats?). You’ll also meet your assigned walker, who will be your dog’s regular companion for walks.
This step helps to build trust, reduces first-walk nerves, and allows your pup to get a sniff of what’s to come. It also means that when walkies day arrives, your dog recognises their walker and feels more relaxed. It’s the paw-fect way to start things off.
The First Walk: Calm, Safe and Fun
On walk day, we keep everything calm and positive. Whether your dog is joining a group or having a solo stroll, we go at their pace. For some dogs, their first adventure is a solo walk to help them settle in. Others might jump straight into a core pack walk if they’re already a social butterfly.
Unlike some providers, we never street walk. Dogs are always taken to safe, enclosed natural spaces where they can sniff, run and explore with freedom. Some of our favourite Wirral walk spots include Leasowe Bay, Storeton Woods, and Thurstaston Common, while in Milton Keynes we love Campbell Park, Ouzel Valley Park, and the beautiful North Loughton Valley – all great for a proper tail-wagging adventure.
Whether your dog is on or off lead depends on their recall and your preferences as the owner. Either way, they’ll have a pawsitive time exploring and enjoying their first adventure.
Updates You Can Trust
We know it can be ruff waiting to hear how your dog got on, which is why we share real-time updates on Instagram, including photos and videos from the walk. You’ll get to see your dog’s happy face mid-adventure, whether they’re chasing leaves or making new friends.
All of our walkers are fully insured pet care providers, trained to spot signs of stress, monitor energy levels, and keep dogs safe and happy throughout the session.
After the First Walk: What Happens Next?
Following their first walk, we check in with you to share how it went and to hear your feedback. From there, we’ll work to match your dog with the most suitable time slots and companions, based on personality, availability, and energy levels. With a whole team of walkers on hand, we’ve also got cover in place for those rare occasions when someone’s on leave.
