What Dogs Have Taught Our Team
When you spend your days walking, sitting, and playing with dogs, it turns out you also do a fair bit of learning. From patience and play to confidence and cuddles, our four-legged clients have taught us some pretty important life lessons over the years.
So we asked our team of sitters and walkers — fully insured, DBS checked, and proud to serve The Wirral, Milton Keynes and beyond — to tell us what the dogs have taught them. Here’s what they said.
Play Comes First
Some dogs take fun very seriously.
Dan’s regular Bella, for example, is fully focused on the task at paw: chasing every ball in sight. He shared that even when her mouth is full of tennis balls, she’s still raring to chase a football — with vocal excitement the moment he walks through the gate. After the action-packed chaos, she likes to wind down with a snooze in the car and a quiet goodbye.
Toni, who also walks Bella, summed it up perfectly:
"Limits don’t exist, and yes, you can fit five balls and a stick in your mouth if you believe in yourself."
Slow Down, You’re Doing Fine
Not every walk is a race. Hayley’s learned that from Indi, who’s known for mid-zoomie naps. One minute she’s sprinting, the next she’s flat on the floor — ready for a rest before round two.
Nicole K has found that dogs are often most content when allowed to lead the way, whether that’s choosing the pace or stopping for a long sniff. After all, it’s their walk.
Patience is Powerful
Coco has helped Mia master the art of patience — mostly by refusing to walk until she’s absolutely ready.
Mia’s other lessons? Never leave your lunch in the car — Barney will find it. And don’t bother buying fancy leads when you walk Nova. She’ll just chew through them anyway.
Poppy shared how time and consistency built trust with Zara, especially as an anxious dog who thrived on routine.
Megan’s walks with Ozzy are a reminder of how much dogs look forward to their outings. Without fail, he brings her his teddy at the door, ready and waiting for her. It’s a small gesture that says everything about the bond they’ve built.
Personality is Everything
After years of walking hundreds of dogs, Bex has learned that no two are alike. What works for one pup might not work for another, and some dogs — just like people — have off days.
Koko has shown her that dogs pick their favourites. She’ll often seem aloof around most of the group, but when she finds “her” dog, she’s obsessed — whether or not the feeling is mutual. Cara, on the other hand, reminded Bex that building a loyal bond can take time, but it’s always worth it.
Perspective from the Pups
Cornelia’s regular, Daisy, finds joy in the little things — chasing leaves, greeting every passerby, and making the most of every step.
Ellen shared that Mav once scored a goal by headbutting a football — a reminder that confidence (and a little chaos) can go a long way.
Nicole K has also spent plenty of time on the floor — literally — to give unsettled dogs the comfort they need when they’re not allowed on sofas. It’s a gentle reminder that for some dogs, a cuddle is the most important thing in the world.
And then there’s Max, who walked down the aisle as the ring bearer at his pawrents’ wedding. He taught Nicole G that spending time with the ones you love — furry or not — is what really matters.
A Team That Learns, Cares, and Cuddles
From every zoomie, stare, tail wag, and cheeky snack-theft, our team learns something new. Being a dog walker or sitter is more than a job — it’s a privilege, and one we don’t take lightly.
That’s why every member of the Pawesome Walkies team is fully insured, DBS checked, and completely dog-obsessed. Whether you’re based in The Wirral, Milton Keynes or one of our other service areas, we’re here to give your dog the same love and care they’d get from you — just with a few more muddy paws.
